Maker of the Month: Kevin Stamper
Kevin trained in art, design, and technology, which laid the foundation for his lifelong passion for working with wood. Ever since, he has been crafting exquisite pieces of furniture and other objects, showcasing his exceptional skill and unique aesthetic. His designs are known for their attention to detail, functionality, and harmonious blend of form and colour.
In a recent exciting development, Kevin has relocated his home and business to the picturesque town of Malvern, a move that has rekindled his love for creating smaller, more intimate pieces of furniture and decorative wooden boxes. The change of scenery and energy of his new surroundings have inspired him to explore new creative avenues and refine his craft.
One of Kevin's most innovative techniques is his unique process for hand-dyeing wood veneer, a method that allows the wood to be sanded back without any loss of colour. This new approach opens up a world of possibilities for creating intricate patterns and designs that seamlessly blend colour and texture. Kevin's designs take full advantage of this versatile technique, featuring over 200 distinct tones and colours in his palette. Each piece he creates is a vibrant celebration of wood's inherent beauty, elevated by his masterful use of colour. All the wood species used are from sustainable sources with FSC certification.
