Sam Hemming – Beaded Jewellery

Sam Hemming – Beaded Jewellery

Born in Birmingham, I spent my formative years in the beautiful countryside of the Teme Valley, Worcestershire.

Moving to Malvern in my late teens, I met expert American Bead-worker Sarah Klopping, who delighted me with her exquisite work. Right there she taught me some basic Native American beadwork techniques, and sold me my first tiny glass Rocaille beads. Self teaching myself Egyptian and African techniques, within months I excitedly made my first sales in the Fine Jewellery Dept at Liberty London !

I design unique pieces for modern times, with a vintage twist. Inspired by the tactile nature, the weight, shape and colour of the glass and gemstone beads and cabochons, I hand weave earrings, chokers, necklaces, bracelets and brooches. Colour interaction continues to fascinate and is a strong contributing factor to my designs. I endeavour to make high quality needle and thread work which reflects the time and effort put into the fine details.

I have been an active member of the Worcestershire Guild since 1996 exhibiting with them and throughout the UK at such shows as Made by Hand, and Craft in Focus, as well as exhibiting in galleries as far afield as Hay-on-Wye to Japan.
