Chris Greening – Pottery

Chris Greening – Pottery

Known mainly for his functional ware (jugs, mugs, bowls etc ), Worcester-based potter, Chris Greening, started work as a hydrographic surveyor in the marine dredging industry following a degree in marine geology.

Chris says “whilst it might be a bit of a leap from dredging up clay to using it on a potter’s wheel, the influence of the marine environment is evident in my work.  I use coloured liquid clay (slip) which provides a fantastic fluid palette for me to explore the patterns that nature produces, displayed in metamorphic and sedimentary strata and, particularly in marine geomorphology, such as the drawing back of silt by the waves on a sandy shoreline.

Chris is a member of both the Midlands Potters and Westcountry Potters Associations that regularly exhibit work.  He has market stalls across Worcestershire and beyond.

Chris will be here, together with wife Sarah (Sarah Greening Glass Design) on Sunday 18th November, 11.00 – 4.00pm
